It gets its name from the greek mythological creature Astaea: the godness of justice. Astaea holds a balance in her hands which is shown in the constellation in the sky and it means equilibrium. If you want to locate it:
Libra is a Northern Spring constellation, that means that it can be seen from the northern and southern hemisphere during the spring. The best time to see it is at 21:00 in July.
It is difficult to find, because there aren’t any bright stars in the constellation. Scorpius is used as a guide to find it, because Libra was part of the constellation Scorpius (the “scorpion’s claws” were placed as a balance). Once you find Scorpius, at the right side is Libra. Locate a triangle of dim stars. There is where the two balances are connected. The scales aren’t hanging straight down but off to the left. Imagine the two scales hanging off the triangle at an angle.
